Music

How could the world possibly function without music? It’s everywhere, from the home whenever a radio or television is turned on, to the street where doorbells, mobile phone ringtones, car stereos and street performers fill the silence with tunes from the ages. It is unlikely that anyone will go about their normal day without hearing music at some point.

Getting up in the morning has the potential include a multitude of ways in which music enters our lives – some alarm clocks play songs or turn on the radio, we can have radios in tooth brushes and in the shower, then during breakfast the television shows will likely involve music in one way or another, from live bands to short stings. Then getting in the car to work will likely involve listening to the radio or a CD. If you work in an office, then perhaps there will be music in the lobby of the building or in the lift? Music is all around us.

So what would the world be like without music? Quite simply it would be a lot quieter and less interesting. Gone would be a huge part of the human race’s cultural heritage. However, due to its versatility in transcending genres and lifestyles, it will flourish for years to come.
